Art of August West

"SEE HERE, HOW EVERYTHING LEAD UP TO THIS DAY." - GD
For more than two decades, the artwork tied to the annual August West Festival has become its own quiet tradition. Long before the first note drifts cross The Green, before the tie-dye stains the tables and the dogs find their shade, there's a piece of art setting the tone. Memorializing more than just a date, each poster reflects the feeling of the event ahead, the energy that comes from gathering, and the spirit that keeps this thing thriving year over year.
Our posters have grown into something people seek out with fervor, save, frame and let live on long after the music ends. And like the music itself, the art invites all depths of interpretation with no wrong way in. You don't have to know the whole history to feel like you're a part of it.
Many artists have helped shape this visual legacy, but in recent years, one name has become inseparable from August West. Mélanie-Alexandra Beauchamp, stands tall as our steady creative throughline, with artwork that understands the festival from the inside out. She brings her own voice, style and instinct to tell a parallel story that's evolving, community-driven, and rooted in creative freedom. Mélanie's work is featured in the 3rd-10th and 17th-21st commemorative posters above.
Meet Mélanie.
Mélanie-Alexandra Beauchamp, the artist behind Arborescence Design, has become a familiar creative presence across Jay Peak events. With more than 20 years experience as a graphic designer and illustrator, she moves comfortably between clean design and hand-drawn expression, translating big, loose, hard-to-pin-down ideas into visuals that feel just right.
If any of this speaks to you, there’s plenty more where it came from. You can find Mélanie’s work beyond August West at www.arborescencedesign.ca, carrying the same care, curiosity, and sense of place.
