20 Years of Making them Turn(s)
A Lift Ops Legend-In-The-Making
Ten Years of Making them Turn(s)
In 2016, we told the story of Chris Martin the way you tell the story of someone who simply shows up and gets it done.
At the time, he was ten years into making them turn. Ten winters of wind, steel, grease, radio chatter, and early mornings. Ten years of climbing towers, tightening bolts, and keeping the machinery steady while the rest of us focused on the ride.
That story is now nearly a decade old.
Chris is not.
He is still here. Still climbing. Still answering the radio. Still doing the kind of work that most guests will never see but absolutely depend on. What was ten years then has quietly become twenty. Two decades of keeping the Tram moving through rime ice, sideways snow, and bluebird mornings that make it all look easy.
Resorts evolve. Lifts get upgraded. Campaigns come and go. But there is a certain comfort in knowing that the people behind the scenes remain steady. Chris is part of that backbone. The kind of person who measures time not in headlines, but in seasons serviced and chairs sent uphill without a hitch.
The piece you are about to read captures him at the ten-year mark. Consider this an update from the present. The beard may have changed. The stories have certainly multiplied. The work ethic has not.
