JAY PEAK, Vt. – [November 17th, 2025] – Winter has arrived early and with purpose at Jay Peak Resort, delivering a run of November snowfall that has already surpassed typical early-season expectations. A steady string of cold fronts has stacked storm on top of storm, bringing the mountain to 68 inches of natural snowfall and counting, positioning this as the snowiest November, by a wide margin, since the resort began recording totals during the 2000–01 season. With this momentum, November 22 stands among the earliest opening dates in that same period, setting the tone for what is already shaping up to be a standout start to winter.
The month began at a normal November pace until November 6, when a half-foot storm rolled through and changed the rhythm entirely. Another system moved in this past Saturday, November 15, into early Sunday morning, and from there major upslope snow took over. Upslope is the phenomenon Jay Peak is uniquely famous for, when cold northwest winds hit the mountain’s face and are forced upward, cooling even further and wringing out moisture in the form of persistent, localized snowfall. It is the engine behind many of Jay’s biggest early-season totals, and this stretch has been no exception. Another foot is likely to fall tonight and into Tuesday, pushing totals further into territory usually reserved for mid-winter.
With winter piling on faster than crews can tally it, both natural snowfall and nearly nonstop snowmaking have fast-tracked early-season prep. Coverage is filling in quickly, upper-mountain terrain is carrying impressive depth for mid-November, and operations teams are shaping surfaces for the first tracks of the season. This kind of early build sets the foundation for a longer runway on both ends, giving Jay Peak the ability to reach into May and deliver one of the longest seasons in the East.
Jay Peak will move into an early opening on November 22 and 23, open to all guests. Mission Affordable 4-Pack purchasers receive a free bonus day on Saturday, November 22, by presenting proof of purchase and photo ID at the Stateside Ticket Booth. Lift tickets for the early opening weekend will be available online in advance or day-of at the Stateside Ticket Booth, with early-season rates set at $69+tx for all ages. Jay Peak will close Monday through Thursday and reopen Friday, November 28th with Day for the Devoted. Aligning with Thanksgiving, this annual tradition recognizes the key groups that make up the Jay Peak community of skiers and riders. Access is reserved for anyone who claimed one of 750 free tickets issued for the day, Season Passholders, and Employees. Plus Mission Affordable 4-Pack holders, PGRI reciprocal passholders, and Indy passholders – all of whom can redeem one of their tickets for the day.
Uphill travelers are also reminded that early-season access is restricted. Snowmaking lines, grooming equipment, machinery, and winch cables are active across Stateside, and Ski Patrol is not yet on the mountain. The only approved uphill route is on Tramside via Ullr’s Dream, both for the ascent and the descent.
