A quick word here about the upcoming holiday, conditions, and a few windows of challenging operating conditions across the next 36 hours.

December 23rd, 2020

Our snowmakers and mountain ops team have been out expanding terrain and opening lifts in advance of the upcoming holiday period. While we didn’t get the snow that resorts south of us did last week, we did receive 7-8” of pretty isolated snow last night and snowmaking is just finishing up on the Montrealer which will open up an intermediate route off the Jet Triple. We’re looking forward to seeing folks over the holiday, prepared to adhere to State and Resort operational guidelines, but I did want to offer a look at forecasted operating conditions over the next few days.

The forecast is calling for lift-impacting wind for a good portion of Christmas Eve day, with rain overspreading even this corner of Vermont by early Friday morning. Temps drop rapidly thereafter- beginning late Friday night - when snowmaking will return and continue to drop into Saturday. That will likely cause surface conditions to set up and require the potential for multiple grooming passes on Saturday.

All things considered, things will move slowly here over the next few days with wind on Thursday, rain the cold temperatures on Friday, snowmaking and aggressive grooming efforts on Saturday.

While weather and conditions can change with little notice, I’d rather you know what we’re seeing, in advance, so you can plan and prepare accordingly. We will update our Snow Report page frequently over the next few days and post relevant updates across all our social channels as well.

The forecast for Christmas Week looks promising with good snowmaking temperatures and conditions, a few chances at natural snow and plenty of room to spread out. Stay safe, enjoy your holiday, and thanks for planning ahead to enjoy the week with us.
