Know The Code
The Responsibility Code - while maybe not the most exciting thing to talk about (but certainly one of the most important), safety is on our minds every month, but especially during Awareness Month.
It’s our responsibility to keep an eye out for each other on the mountain. There’s a lot of factors that come into play like weather, obstacles, and equipment, but the easiest thing for us to control is ourselves. The National Ski Areas Association has a comprehensive list of what-to-dos and what-definitely-not-to-dos. It’s a good starting point for keeping yourself safe, as well as all those around you.
January is Safety Awareness Month, so there’s likely not a better time to review this outline, which each and every resort in North America endorses for the sake of our safety. It covers just about everything, but of course if there’s any confusion, find one of us in a Jay Peak jacket and just ask. We’re happy to help.
