Uphill Travel Update
Jay Peak’s Uphill Policy is designed to allow individuals to climb the mountain using skins or snowshoes via either of the 2 designated Uphill Routes which are marked on the trail map. The Uphill Routes are open only during operational hours. From the time the chairs stop spinning to the time we load guests in the morning our mountain operations team is hard at work readying the hill for another day of skiing and riding. During the night there are many moving parts- winch cats and groomers, to snowmobiles and snowmaking equipment, and location of all these change nightly. This is why Uphill Travel at night, or outside of operational hours, is not recommended. Groomers and snowmobile operators have been seeing an increase in people at night, and this message is for you.
- Respect the people that work hard every night to get our resort ready for business the next day, and stay out of their way.
- Make yourself visible by wearing a headlamp and your Uphill Travel reflective arm band.
- Stay to the side of the trail, give machinery the right of way.
- Pay particular attention to “Winch Cat in Operation” signs and keep away.
Our policy is designed to allow access during operational hours, and we need to limit nighttime/off-hour use not just for your safety, but for the safety of our on-mountain ops team.
Thanks for the cooperation,
