August West, Rewound.
Before HD and livestreams, there was this. A few surviving videos from August West in 2009, 2011 and 2012 that capture the festival in its earlier days, when the cameras were a little grainier, but the music was every bit as good.
People of all types and ages gathering for a day of community, color, music and chainsaws in Jay, Vermont. Music performed by: Rick Redington & The Luv
Five years in, August West was still a relatively humble gathering built around two things: celebrating the music of the Grateful Dead and the community that surrounds Jay Peak. The festival had grown, but the idea remained the same. Families, well-mannered dogs, good food, cold drinks and a full day of music made for a pretty good way to spend a summer day. This year's lineup opened with The Kind Buds before Rick Redington and the Luv took the stage.
The 7th Annual August West Festival found its home at Cedarwood Resort, bringing another full day of music, community and summer in the Northeast Kingdom. This video serves as a snapshot of the people, the place and the laid-back spirit that has kept the festival going year after year.
By 2012, August West had become a colorful tradition. People of all ages gathered in Jay for a day of community, live music and the festival's unmistakable blend of the expected and the wonderfully unexpected... including chainsaw carving. Featured here is a performance from Rick Redington & The Luv.
