Escape to Jay
Before drone footage, social media and the ability to check snow conditions from your couch, selling a ski vacation required a film crew, a narrator and a fair amount of faith that the finished product would convince someone to drive all the way to northern Vermont.
This promotional film from the late 1960s offers a look at how Jay Peak introduced itself to the world more than half a century ago, back when ski marketing was committed to the art of the narrated motion picture.
Narrated and supervised by Al Cahill, Jay Peak's Director of Public Relations in 1969, with writing by David Rittenhouse, editing by Blanka Baker and cinematography by Tom Emrich. A little piece of Jay history, preserved on film.
