One Town
Welcome to One Town
Our inaugural Jay Peak One Town celebration is an initiative to recognize the people in the communities in and around Jay Peak and the Northeast Kingdom, who dedicate their time, skills, passion and know-how to enhancing all our lives and communities. Whether as a volunteer, part of a not-for-profit, or employed as change makers for key local businesses, these folks do more than any paycheck could ever reflect. Driven by selflessness, kindness, empathy, and a deep-rooted desire to help improve the communities we all live, work and play in, they offer a certain energy that drives our communities and makes them better places to live. And even though the last thing they expect is acknowledgment for what they contribute, that’s exactly what we want to do.
Recognizing that it doesn't take a village, it takes the villagers to create the kind of inclusion, empathy, warmth, and welcoming that is emblematic of not just the tight Jay Peak community, but all our surrounding communities, we wanted to acknowledge those who, more often than not, prefer to stay in the background, while working so hard to help others. One Town culminates in a gala event to celebrate and recognize the nominees as community enhancers, improvers of lives, and local stewards. The process began with a campaign launch across our social channels, both organic and paid, to introduce the project and request nominations. As a group that is perennially worried we'll throw a party and no one will show up, we got immediate relief from that particular concern. Within minutes of the announcement for our inaugural year, we had dozens of applications, and by the time the nomination period ended, we'd received more than 100. And the irony is not lost on us that there was a lot of crossover between those nominating and being nominated. The best in our community were quick to acknowledge others, while often attempting to remain in the background themselves.
