TEAM UPDATE

Piled up and riled up.

Afternoon All

In just a week we’ll get things rolling for the 2020-2021 season here at Jay Peak. In some ways, the past 8 months seem to have gone by in a flash and in others they’ve dragged on longer than any of us could have imagined. The fact that we’ve made it this far is close to a miracle, but our success from here, for the most part within our control, will be totally expected.

Our plan is to begin operating the Jet Triple on Friday morning, November 27th, from 9-4p. Weekend hours will be from 8:30-4p. The terrain will be for advanced skiing and riding only and more Opening Day information is available out at jaypeakresort.com/OpeningPlans. We’ll close the following week to revisit operating strategies and to work with staff to make adjustments and will reopen, for the season on a daily basis, beginning Friday December 4th.

Suffice to say, figuring out a way to operate the resort, while at the same time making sure we do everything we can to keep staff and guests safe, has been taking all of our attention since reopening for summer operations back in May. With the development of the Jay Peak EverClean Program (jaypeakresort.com/EverClean) and the creation of the Jay Peak Wellness Ambassador Team, we’re going to do everything we can to inform, educate and then enforce these guidelines, on a daily basis, with both guests and staff. It’s my belief that most people want to do the right thing, follow state guidance, and do everything in their power to keep people safe. For those few that have a different sensibility, we will gently remind them that other options, elsewhere, are available to them.

While it goes without saying that I am proud of everything we’ve done to this point, and to those that have brought us here, I will remind us anyway; we are here, at the beginning of another season, because of you. That you encompasses those that have worked almost daily for 8 months, those that have worked remotely while trying to manage kids at home and the mounting pressures of reduced paychecks and remote learning, those that have been laid off and recently brought back on, and those still standing on the sidelines, waiting to be tapped in. We wouldn’t have made it this far without all of you, every person reading this, and we certainly won’t move forward in a successful way without you.

Our commitment is to be as transparent about what’s happening both operationally and with respect to evolving Vermont guidance as possible, to continue promoting the support of our local communities who have been experiencing difficult scenarios everywhere they look and to do everything we can to continue running Jay Peak in the spirit we’ve all contributed toward, and grown accustomed to.

Thanks again and if you have specific questions, I’m happy to answer them at: swright@jaypeakresort.com

Hang in there and let’s have a long, successful season.

-Steve
