Thanks to our top-of-the-line rental equipment and cutting-edge Terrain-Based Learning Model, learning to ski and snowboard has never been easier, and Jay Peak is the perfect place to begin. We offer beginner lesson/rental/lift ticket packages for anyone. This is designed for first-timers up to those working on green terrain. Our learning zone features a moving carpet surrounded by sculpted learning terrain, three beginner-friendly chairlifts accessing beautifully groomed mellow trails, multiple terrain parks, and low-angle tree runs designed to introduce beginners to park riding and tree skiing early in their careers.
What's My Ability Level?
- FIRST-TIME SKIER/SNOWBOARDER - This is the level for you if you've never tried skiing or snowboarding or if it's been a long time and you'd like to start at the beginning.
- BEGINNER - Choose this level if this is not your first time and you have yet to feel the exhilaration of successfully loading/unloading a chairlift OR of being able to easily control your speed and direction on beginner trails.
- RIDING THE LIFT - If you are already successful riding chairlifts AND turning and stopping, this level will get you to feel the comfort and satisfaction that comes with fine-tuning your skills and exploring all of our varied beginner trails.
- INTRODUCTION TO INTERMEDIATE TERRAIN - You are already comfortable on Green/beginner terrain and are looking to be introduced to Blue/intermediate terrain. This level will help you progress to our upper mountain lifts and terrain.
- EXPLORING INTERMEDIATE TERRAIN - You are comfortable on groomed Blue/intermediate terrain and would like to explore our ungroomed intermediate terrain and be introduced to Jay Peak’s glade network.
It's important to all parties involved that lessons are built with skiers and riders in the appropriate levels for their abilities. If you sign up for a level other than your assessed ability, SRS staff may not be able to accommodate your request until a later time.
